The tin box production process can be categorized into two main stages: the printing process and the stamping process, each with its own set of details, as outlined below:
Firstly, the printing process can be divided into two subcategories: printing and oiling.
Tinplate printing encompasses various techniques such as offset printing, screen printing, laser printing, jet printing, and white printing. The most commonly used methods are offset and screen printing, while laser and jet printing are reserved for high-grade tin box production.
Oiling typically involves applying a light coat of oil,哑油 (dull oil), or other special transparent oils to both sides of the tin box to protect the printed text and images. For food-grade iron boxes, an additional treatment is applied: the inner surface is coated with food-grade gold oil to prevent contamination from contact between the food and the tin box.
Secondly, there is the stamping process. Thanks to its excellent ductility, tinplate can be shaped into a variety of tin box forms with the aid of molds, such as heart-shaped or book-shaped tin boxes. It can also be used for 3D carving on the surface to enhance the design appeal. The primary stamping process includes steps like printing, cutting, stamping, assembly, and packaging.
